Our Story

The Bar

Let's turn the clock back to a summer night in June 2019 ... Jane was finishing her Bachelors and Robert had just settled in San Diego for the Marine Corp. On a night where neither Jane or Robert were supposed to go out, they were convinced by their friends and in a twist of fate, both parties decided to go to 1st Street Bar in a small beach town called Encinitas. While waiting in line a few groups behind, Jane saw the most handsome (& tall) man and knew she would have to find him inside to meet him. A little while later, they locked eyes from across the dance floor and Robert asked Jane to dance. A dance turned into a drink which turned into a fun fact competition. Fun Fact: Jane and Robert found out that night they both have terrible vision! Jane found Robert incredibly charming with his swing dance moves and sweet southern accent and Rob was taken back by Jane's blue eyes and zest for life. This lead to them exchanging numbers, Facetime-ing the next morning, and setting up a first date for later that week to share spicy margaritas, Mexican food and a sunset walk on the beach... the rest is history!

The Proposal

On December 29, 2022, Robert and Jane were spending New Years visiting Robert's family in Atlanta, GA. Robert had planned a beautiful night to visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden to see their holiday light displays. Jane was thinking he might just pop the question there due to how romantic the evening seemed but the two had walked the whole gardens and nothing had happened. Robert decided to head back to the center of the gardens where, to the side, they found an employees only light display, so of course, they walked over to go see it. With just the two of them under a twinkle light studded archway, Robert asked Jane to marry him and she said with tears in her eyes .. "really?! are you serious?! really?!" to where Robert asked, "that's a yes right?!". Of course she meant yes and the night was celebrated with family, champagne and so much joy.

The Civil Ceremony

With an impending deployment, Robert and Jane knew they were going to have a long engagement so they could have their wedding after Robert came back home. But "in the spirit of love and spontaneity" (& unromantically, military benefits and logistics) Robert and Jane legally tied the knot at the San Diego Courthouse on September 8, 2023 with their parents and it was truly the most lovely day. They took sunrise engagement photos at the beach they had their first date on, took the coastal train downtown, tied the knot, and finished the day with oceanside champagne and a skyline dinner. But there was just one thing missing ... YOU! We cannot wait to celebrate our union with our closest friends and family at our traditional wedding in 2025. It's time to get lively and we cannot wait to see you.
